Watercolors by Ted Lameyer

I paint Maine landscapes, portraits, and other subjects of interest. Some of my work is studio painting, which can take close to a week to complete. My process involves combining transparent watercolors and gouache to capture the available light.  I also enjoy quicker plein-air style painting out doors. My plein-air paintings are completed in around three hours with the first hour spent drawing the subject and the second hour spent color rendering while the final hour it about shading ,color values, and dynamic color .

I frame all my paintings with archival acid free mat board on Acid free foam core. The frames are made from wood from the historic Castine “Post Office Elm” and other rich woods such as black cherry. I make all my frames with my signature knife edge profile to protect the paintings and give a clean boarder to my work.

Portrait work is done by appointment.

“I have always enjoyed painting children and buildings. I particularly enjoy combining these two subjects.”
